“The boy has personality” – Bournemouth staff impressed by new striker’s resilience

Bournemouth are impressed by Rayan’s resilience following a penalty miss, according to insiders at the club.

Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade revealed conversations he’s been having regularly with people inside the Dorset club about the young attacker’s mentality since his recent arrival from Vasco da Gama.

“I speak frequently with people inside Bournemouth,” Andrade explained. “Earlier today I asked them if they were in love with Rayan. Of course they were cautious, very calm. But they’re loving his resilience.” He provided an assist on his debut, then started the following two fixtures and scored in both.

What struck those within the club, however, was not merely his goalscoring return. Andrade highlighted the emotional dimension of Rayan’s performance.

“Beyond the tactical and technical side, the emotional question is key,” he said. “He didn’t feel the error he made – and yes, it was a penalty. But what’s clear is that the real passion, the truly positive impact, is about personality.”

One Bournemouth source encapsulated the club’s consensus when speaking to Andrade directly. “We’re going very carefully, but the boy has a lot of personality,” they said.

Andrade emphasised this point: “Inside the pitch, the tactical and technical side are fundamental, but the emotional side has also been heavily highlighted.”

The scale of Rayan’s impact becomes clearer when considering his circumstances. “He’s so young, arriving in a new culture, new football, a new club… Everything is new for him,” Andrade noted. “Yet despite all that, the impact has been striking.”

Brazil’s selection debate

Back in Brazil, Rayan’s early impact has not gone unnoticed by those tasked with shaping the national team. The emergence of both Rayan at Bournemouth and Endrick at Lyon -the Real Madrid prospect on loan for regular minutes – has prompted a wider conversation about which young forward deserves Carlo Ancelotti’s attention.

Also commenting on ESPN, local pundit Zé Elias made his position clear. “Rayan is a national team player,” he said. “Three games and three as the protagonist. Add to that what he’s done with Vasco last season. Who’s ahead of him? Endrick plays two good matches and everyone wants him in the squad?”

Elias acknowledged that some may rate Endrick as the more complete footballer, but “the moment belongs to Rayan”.

He didn’t stop there. “With all due respect, the French league is very difficult, but do you want to compare it with the Premier League?” Elias added, emphasising the quality of Rayan’s immediate environment in English football.

The early signs suggest the Vasco academy product is settling far more smoothly than many young South American arrivals manage in the Premier League.
