**When the board decided to back Nuno, they brought in Paco Jemez, who has begun to become a cult hero within West Ham, with numerous players praising him.**
West Ham United have begun to be a lot more successful since the arrival of Paco. Thankfully, due to his known attacking style, he has worked together with Nuno to formulate a survival tactic that has brilliantly combined Nuno’s defensive ability to still be defensive but also pose a significant threat in attack.
Most recently, Paco has become a significant figure in the Spanish press once again, prompting some of our own players to speak about him, most notably Soucek and Potts, who both recently praised him for his tactics and training ethic.
Potts – “Paco has had a massive impact, especially defensively. We’re conceding fewer goals now. He’s very smart with the defenders and midfield players — he helps everyone.”
This is brilliant to see and exactly what West Ham required in a situation like this. All the world-class teams and those who fight for Europe tend to have a left had man who pushes the manager outside his comfort zone or urges him to or not to make a change. West Ham had this under David Moyes with Stuart Pierce and finally, it appears that Nuno has found someone who can get those extra few yards out of him that we required.
Paco also recently spoke out himself, suggesting that “We were in a very bad run, we were seven points behind, however, in the last few matches, the team has shown signs of life. They’ve picked up the pace, believed in what they’re doing, tweaking a few things. If we continue, I’m convinced that the team will move up.” – It’s a fact! He’s bang on there. Fortunately, a new factor of energy appeared with the hiring of the Spaniard himself and fortunately we are reaping the benefits of his hiring.
If it is to continue on how it currently is, I’m certain fans will be jumping around the room, it’s wonderful Football that just needs the creases ironed out. There might be a fault or two remaining, perhaps more, but what is for certain is that Paco has helped get more out of Nuno and that’s exactly what we desperately needed, given the situation the Hammers are in.
But as the madman would say, there’s still a lot to do.
