Arsenal will shift their focus to the FA Cup following their Premier League clash with Brentford on Thursday.
The Gunners are set to host Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday, as Mikel Arteta's side aim to maintain their impressive run across all four competitions this season.
Currently topping the league table and having reached the Carabao Cup final, the north London side refrained from making any first-team signings in January. That’s because the Arsenal hierarchy believe they have the necessary quality to secure a major trophy this season, while also saving their funds for the summer transfer window.
However, injuries pose the biggest challenge to Arteta's aspirations this term, with news of another crucial player's absence surfacing recently. Yet, Arsenal remain proactive behind the scenes as they look to bolster their squad, as football.london brings you two updates from the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal eye Newcastle sensation
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Newcastle midfielder Lewis Miley closely. SportsBoom claim the Gunners have already sent scouts to watch the 19-year-old talent in action for the Magpies.
Miley's burgeoning reputation has also turned heads at Manchester City and Aston Villa, with the trio of top-flight sides identifying him as a "must-watch" prospect, according to the report. Newcastle, however, are determined to keep hold of the promising youngster.
Manager Eddie Howe is still ruing the sale of midfielder Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest in July 2024 for £35million. Anderson's departure was prompted by the Magpies' PSR fears at the time, and they're eager to avoid repeating such a scenario with Miley, where an academy graduate goes on to become a Premier League and England star.
Miley is already a more important player under Howe than Anderson was, racking up 30 appearances across all competitions this season. But Arsenal would be wise to keep an eye on Newcastle’s financial situation and, should the Magpies be forced to generate funds, potentially pounce in the summer transfer window in a repeat of Anderson's exit.
Havertz injury update
Kai Havertz of Arsenal celebrates after scoring to make it 1-0 during the Carabao Cup Semi Final Second Leg match between Arsenal and Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on February 03, 2026 in London, England.

Kai Havertz is reportedly set to face a three-to-four-week absence following his latest injury setback. The German suffered a hamstring problem that curtailed the second half of last season before suffering a knee issue in this season's opening game.
Having only just regained fitness after an extended spell on the treatment table, Havertz had rediscovered his form with some eye-catching displays, scoring two goals and providing two assists across seven matches.

But The Mail report the versatile forward is set to be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscle issue, having already missed the Brentford match on Thursday. Given the timeframe being reported, Havertz could potentially miss the upcoming five matches against Wigan, Wolves, Tottenham, Chelsea and Brighton.
