Where Are They Now? The last Mansfield Town side to play at Burnley

It’s been 30 years since the Stags last played Burnley, when the two sides met in a League Cup first round, second leg clash that saw the hosts run out 2-0 winners on the night and 5-0 on aggregate.

Damian Matthew and David Eyres got the goals as Burnley comfortably progressed through at Turf Moor, the match played on September 3, 1996 when Steve Parkin was in caretaker charge ahead of his permanent appointment a few weeks later.

Here’s a gallery of the Stags squad that night and where their careers took them after their time at the club.

Bowling spent five years with Mansfield, playing 172 games. Moved into non-league with Kettering amongst others and is now a business development manager in the food industry.
