Areola or Hermansen – Who Should Start In The FA Cup?

**West Ham United are set to take on Barrow tomorrow afternoon and ahead of the game, Nuno has confirmed his goalkeeping choice for the Cup.**

The FA Cup is a wonderful competition and one that the Hammers haven’t gotten far in for a very long time and against Barrow, Nuno’s side have the opportunity to send us into Round Five, the last 16.

It is anticipated that the Hammers will go for a rotated side, but, with that said, Nuno has a track record of going strong in the cup, as he did with QPR, so perhaps he could still put out a strong side, just perhaps without one or two key individuals.

Though one of the looming questions people were hurrying to find out about was which Goalkeeper would start against Barrow, which was finally announced ahead of line-ups and in Nuno’s press conference.

Nuno said, “Alphonso is going to play. That’s the decision that we have made is how we approach the competition. Normally the goalkeeper that’s not being used in the Premier League plays in the cup.”

The bombshell has arrived! Areola has officially been demoted to a number two keeper for the Premier League, back to having Hermansen as the number one. Which, in honesty, is probably the correct decision given that if we had a bit of luck on our side as well as a set of officials who’d put the correct added time, Hermansen would’ve gotten two clean sheets in a row.

Areola has got a more glamorous saving technique with his cat-like reactions, but Hermansen evidently is able to control the defence better and utilise the back four better than Areola can. This is certainly not to say that the Frenchman isn’t a good goalkeeper, he’s a great one! But not exactly what we need at this moment in time. I hope to see him have a great game against Barrow, which will not only boost his individual confidence but also help the Hammers get into the next round.
