“You never know” – West Ham youngster unsure about future as ‘meteoric rise’ continue

West Ham United youngster Callum Marshall has admitted that he is unclear what the future holds as he impressed at VfL Bochum.

BILD have comments from the 21-year-old today. He’s unclear what will happen to him at the end of the season.

The German newspaper explains that Marshall is ‘thrilling’ Bochum and their fans at this moment in time. He joined the German side on loan in the January transfer window and has quickly established himself at the club.

Indeed, according to BILD, he has impressed since the first training camp. Then in his debut against Darmstadt, he scored immediately. He continued that with key performances in the matches against Schalke and Münster.

‘Whirlwind of a player’

Head coach Uwe Rösler (57) is pleased, and so are his teammates, with the ‘whirlwind of a player’. Marshall is also happy with his successful start.

This is his third loan spell away from West Ham and the focus is on scoring more goals and providing assists. If he does, and continues his ‘meteoric rise’, the Bochum management will likely do everything they can to keep him.

Marshall has received no signs as yet. And he admits that the future is open if he continues to be successful.

“You never know what might happen,” he said.

“At 17, I thought I’d play in Ireland for the rest of my career. Two months later, I was at West Ham United. Everything can change so quickly.”

No long term plans

The youngster is not making any serious plans, though. And that means he isn’t bothering to get his driving license in Germany. He’s saving that for when he’s back in England.

“I don’t have a driver’s license yet,” he added.

“There isn’t as much traffic in Belfast as in Germany. That’s why I won’t be getting my license here either. We drive on the other side of the road. Having to keep that in mind would be a bit much. I’d rather wait until I’m back home.”
