The door has been opened for Leeds United winger Noah Okafor to make a return to the Switzerland squad.
Okafor has been capped by his country on 24 occasions but the last of his appearances was in 2024, when he was still on the books of AC Milan.
He has been frozen out by head coach Murat Yakin, who earlier in the season the wideman claimed had not been in touch with him since his move to Leeds.
In November, Okafor told The Athletic: “They don’t even call me or ask me. For me, it makes no sense. I can say it makes me sad because they don’t even text me or call me to see how I am.
“For example, when I moved to Leeds, ‘congrats’ or something like that, because I play now in the best league in the world.”

However, after a period in which there did not seem to be light at the end of the tunnel for Okafor on the international scene, there appears to be some shining through cracks.
Tami said: “We saw a strong game from Noah, in which he showed what he's made of. Afterwards, we had an honest, clarifying and constructive conversation. That's a good basis for Noah's possible return to the national team."

Since joining Leeds from AC Milan in the summer, Okafor has registered four goals over the course of 25 appearances.
A return to the Switzerland fold could give Okafor the chance to feature at this summer’s World Cup.
