Concern is building among West Ham fans amid a big injury worry.

West Ham are said to have serious concerns over whether one of their players will return before the season is over. The Hammers are in a battle for their Premier League lives, still three points from safety, although they have reduced that gap significantly over recent weeks.

Nottingham Forest are the team the Iron are chasing, and the East Midlands side are having a meltdown, with their controversial owner pulling the trigger for the third time this season, sacking Sean Dyche and replacing him with Vitor Pereira. Pereira kept Wolves up last season but went winless until November prior to being sacked this season.

West Ham are hoping to take advantage of Forest’s unraveling, but they know they are going to need to be consistent, even over the tough run of fixtures they have coming up. New signings have been key to the Iron’s recent success, with Taty Castellanos the pick of the bunch.

But it now looks as though they might have to do without another of their new recruits. Pablo Felipe has made a big impression since his arrival in January, usually playing behind Castellanos, effectively replacing Lucas Paquetá, but he missed the mid-week draw with Manchester United through injury.

Little has been said about the injury, and now according to Claret and Hugh, there is a genuine concern that Pablo could be out of the season following reports to that effect. The £20million signing was viewed as a key part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans for the rest of the season, so his absence would be a real concern.

The injury would likely require Jarrod Bowen to play in that role, leading to Santo replacing Bowen out wide, potentially with Adama Traore, who also arrived in the summer. All eyes will be on Santo to see whether he provides differing news on Pablo, or indeed whether Hammers fans’ concerns are confirmed.
