Leeds team news: No risk with key duo, but Farke insists he will go strong

Leeds United will not risk Anton Stach or Pascal Struijk in Sunday's FA Cup tie at Birmingham City but manager Daniel Farke insists they will not be taking the fourth-round game lightly.

Championship Birmingham will be out to cause a shock in the noon kick-off.

"We want to go into the next round, there is no doubt about this," said Farke. "But of course the league and to achieve survival has a priority.

"We won't risk any player where we have any doubt. So I don't think that Anton Stach and Pascal Struijk will be involved for this game, because they are still on the road of rehab.

"And then we take some late decisions where we think which player is ready to play another game and who needs to be a bit to be looked afte, perhaps.

"But overall, no new injuries after the Chelsea game and everyone who was available for this game should also be available for the Birmingham game."

That includes Karl Dalow and Sebastiaan Bornauw, who collided during Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Chelsea, but only came away with bruises.

That said, it would not be a surprise if Farke changed goalkeeper to give Lucas Perri another opportunity.

Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Farke said he was still open-minded about his line-up, but he is happy his players have had plenty of recovery time since their trip to London. Birmingham also played on Tuesday, drawing 0-0 with West Bomwich Albion.

"At the moment it is a bit too early to speak about the starting line-up," said Farke.

"On Tuesday night we travelled back on the coach. We were back at Thorpe Arch just before 3am. I think the players were not in bed before 4am. Thursday was just a day of recovery.

"We have an afternoon training session (on Friday), then also on Saturday.

"Afterwards I will decide also who looks sharp in training, who looks ready in training.

"I think it was more necessary to rotate (in the third round) because the FA Cup game was on the end of a long streak of many games and the turnaround was so quick.

"I doubt if we need to rotate that much for this game. But we will see. We will just take the decision (at the) earliest on Saturday afternoon."
