Jordan Pickford may have just signed his own new contract, but Everton are already building George Pickford into the 31-year-old’s long-term replacement.
Everton have already set up a loan for George Pickford to join Southport on the back of the support from the England number one.
Although not related, the two Pickfords have now had time to play alongside each other in first-team training at Finch Farm.
The 19-year-old has established himself as the top goalkeeper in the Premier League 2, having kept more clean sheets (six) than anyone else.
Jordan Pickford inked his new contract late last year and has his spot secured on Merseyside until 2029.
However, the young Pickford has impressed Everton coaches in Finch Farm training already after being called up by David Moyes.

“But you see all the stuff you don’t see in games – and how much he helps you, too. I’m only 19, and he’s always there to improve you and help you as much as he can.
“He’ll always give the right advice, and I’ll always take it on board.”

George Pickford on track to succeed Jordan Pickford at Everton
Fortunately for Everton fans, Jordan Pickford still has a lot of years ahead of him, with his new deal securing his future on Merseyside.
However, a day will come when the 31-year-old does need to be replaced and Everton are putting the foundations down for their academy product to potentially be that replacement.
George Pickford has received interest from clubs in Germany already, with clubs from abroad clearly showing an interest in his potential.
The Friedkin Group have shown their hand after tying the youngster down at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a new deal until 2028.
Now, it is time for Pickford to prove himself and gain experience in the men’s game as he joins Southport in the National League North.
