Tottenham could miss out on the services of a breakout Premier League star in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur were looking to sign a centre-forward in the past winter transfer window.
Several names were linked with a move to White Hart Lane. Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta was a hot target, while there were admirers for Brentford marksman Igor Thiago. However, nothing materialised, as Spurs ended the January transfer window with only two signings.
Conor Gallagher and Souza were the only arrivals last month. One of the priorities was to address the lack of goals in the injury absences of Dominic Solanke and Richarlison, and Randal Kolo Muani’s failure to break his Premier League duck after arriving on a season-long loan from PSG last year. Come summer, the club bosses will look to strengthen the strike force.
Bournemouth planning to open new contract talks with Eli Junior Kroupi
As per reports, Tottenham have shown an interest in signing Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi.
Eli Junior Kroupi has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most exciting young attacking prospects. The forward has enjoyed a breakout campaign in England, quickly adapting to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League while delivering goals, flair, energy, and moments of top quality in the final third.
The teenager has bagged eight goals in 21 Premier League appearances thus far. Kroupi’s rise at Bournemouth has not gone unnoticed beyond Tottenham. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City are all understood to be monitoring his progress closely. However, the Cherries have started taking steps to secure the youngster’s future.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Bournemouth are preparing to open talks with Kroupi over a new contract after his outstanding start to life in England. They are looking to reward the talented striker with a bumper new deal to fend off interest from Premier League rivals.
Having arrived for a paltry €13m from Lorient, the France Under-21 international’s value has skyrocketed following sizzling displays in the top flight. He is now valued in the region of £80m by the south coast club, with PSG also keen on the striker’s services. Given the growing interest, Bournemouth want to secure Kroupi’s future by handing him a new contract. Should the Frenchman pen fresher terms, he will earn more than double his current wages at the Vitality Stadium.
Truth be told, Tottenham will struggle to get any deals across in the summer until and unless a new permanent head coach is announced. Top talents across Europe will be keen to know the face of the club’s project, how they will fit into a manager’s system, opportunities to grow and objectives to achieve.
For now, the Lilywhites will be focused on getting out of the rut under an interim manager likely to be Igor Tudor.
