Potential interim manager Igor Tudor will be aiming to secure Tottenham’s safety in the Premier League.
It looks like Igor Tudor is set to be appointed as Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager until the end of the season.
The Lilywhites sacked Thomas Frank earlier this week following a 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United, which marked an eighth consecutive Premier League game without victory. The Dane left the club reeling at 16th in the table, only five points above the drop zone.
With a set of tough fixtures to follow, starting with next weekend’s North London derby against Arsenal at home, supporters will be hoping that Igor Tudor hits the ground running at Spurs. The 47-year-old was sacked by Juventus in October 2025 after a series of poor results. He was in charge of 24 games and seven months at Juventus before the board ran out of patience and pulled the plug on the Croat.
Italian football expert feels Igor Tudor has a great opportunity to prove a point
This will be Igor Tudor’s first gig in English football, after managing at clubs in Croatia, Turkey, France and Italy. Tottenham had several potential short-term options on their radar, but they have reportedly decided to go with the experienced Croatian tactician.
After failing at clubs like Juventus and Marseille, Italian football expert Patrick Kendrick feels Tudor has a great opportunity to “prove a point” at Tottenham.
“He feels having qualified for the Champions League with Juventus, which was his main remit and then keeping the job, I think he felt frustrated to see his opportunity cut short during the league phase,” Patrick Kendrick said on Sky Sports (h/t BBC Sport).
“It is also a chance to prove a point and maybe even some redemption in Europe.
“But the first target will be to make sure that Spurs are playing top-flight football again next season.”
Baptism of fire for Tudor
Tudor actually did well at Juventus when he replaced Thiago Motta in March 2025, with just one defeat in nine league games saw his side clinch Champions League qualification. He got the job full-time at the Allianz Stadium, but three successive defeats without scoring a goal led to his dismissal in October.
Tottenham want to hire Tudor by Monday, and the Croat’s first assignment as their interim boss will be the North London derby. It will be a baptism of fire for the 47-year-old in England, and if he manages to get a result against the league leaders at home with a depleted squad, Tudor will instantly become a favourite in N17.
