But with Rob Edwards’ side heading for relegation – with only one win in 26 league games this season to sit rock bottom on nine points – the expectation is that Mane’s situation will be revisited in the summer.
Wolves are likely to seek a significant fee for their No. 36, assured by his lengthy contract, however their stance will be weakened if they drop to the Championship.
If Mane were to join Liverpool, which is certainly not guaranteed, he would follow the likes of Andy Robertson, Gini Wijnaldum, Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabio Carvalho in signing after relegation with their previous clubs.
Trey Nyoni also left Leicester following their demotion to the Championship, however he arrived on Merseyside as a youth player.
Why Liverpool could target Mateus Mane this summer

Liverpool’s interest in Mane follows a trend of targeting the best emerging talent around Europe, which has led the club to agree a £60 million deal for Rennes centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, 20, ahead of the summer.
RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, 19, is another target and interest in both Diomande and Mane comes in a continued revamp of Arne Slot‘s attacking options.
After the big-money signings of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike last summer, the Reds are expected to strengthen in the wide areas with Federico Chiesa likely to leave and Mohamed Salah entering the final year of his contract.
Mane’s flexibility could make him an ideal replacement for Chiesa, albeit offering considerably less experience and with a lot still to prove in the Premier League and beyond.
The Big Debate
Should Liverpool sign Mateus Mane this summer?
Liverpool are interested in Wolves prodigy Mateus Mane but are not alone in their admiration. With Federico Chiesa likely to leave and **Mohamed Salah**‘s expiring contract ushering in a new generation, should the 18-year-old be the Reds’ next relegation signing?
