Brenden Aaronson
Before the 2024/25 season in the Championship, Daniel Farke asked Leeds United for attacking signings. He had his sights set on bringing in a playmaker to make his system tick.
Leeds failed with attempts to sign multiple attacking midfielders including Sheffield United’s Gus Hamer. So the club eventually failed to sign anybody who fit that profile. Farke then decided Brenden Aaronson would be a great fit for the position. There were groans and complaints from fans especially as the American had a brutal first season in England that saw him register just four goal contributions in over 30 league games.

Despite that, he was trusted to play as the number 10 in the team just behind the striker. Aaronson delivered that season, scoring nine goal and providing two assists in the Championship as Leeds won promotion.
Brenden Aaronson makes honest Premier League admission
This season, the midfielder has once again proven to be a pivotal part of the team this season. Aaronson has four goals and three assists this season, showing remarkable improvement on the pitch. The midfielder was speaking in an interview with Sky Sports about how he has adjusted to English football so far:
“I’ve learned a lot, I’ve grown from the last time I was in the Premier League, I was 21, new country, new league.
“Now, I know what it’s like playing in this league and now I really look forward to it, it’s the league I always wanted to play in growing up, it was where I wanted to be, I wanted to play at the highest level and this was here and I’m really grateful for it and now it’s just about taking it week by week and enjoying the ride.”

Midfielder has reinvented himself
Even in pre-season, Daniel Farke tried Aaronson out in a variety of roles to determine his fit in the team. He started the season on the bench for most games, before being given a role on the wing for a few games. But being shifted back into central areas has seen him become more involved in attacking sequences and has improved his production as a result.
A lot of credit will go to Farke for finding him a place in the team, but Aaronson also deserves some praise for how well he has played this season. He will be key for the team going forward as they battle relegation.
