Liverpool’s £565m value advantage: Comparing squad market value vs Brighton

Liverpool will meet Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday evening.

Ahead of the tie, we have taken a look at the value of the Reds’ squad compared to the Seagulls.

As per Transfermarkt, Liverpool’s squad has an overall market value of £1,008,620,000.

Is winning the FA Cup enough to keep Arne Slot in a job beyond 2025/26? If not, why? 🤔

That puts them fourth in the Premier League rankings overall behind table-topping Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Brighton, on the other hand, boast a much more modest squad value of £443,445,000, which ranks them 11th overall in the English top-flight at present.

Meanwhile, the average market value of each Liverpool player this season sits at £32.4m.

Brighton’s number is again significantly lower, sitting at £17.05m.

Alexander Isak has been pictured training, but he’s not expected to return to the field yet.

Elsewhere, Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni all remained sidelined.

Slot commented on injury issues in his pre-match press conference. He said: “The last thing we could use right now is another injury. So the load management is important now. We have to train today, see how players are doing and listen to how they feel.”

The Dutchman could turn to youngsters to fill the gaps in his side against Brighton and give his senior players some rest.

But his comments on the Academy talents don’t seem to suggest any are guaranteed starters.

He stated: “I am looking always at them. A few of them come closer and closer to first-team football. A few already had it like Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni.

“Games like this could be an option for them as well. It’s finding the right balance because we play against a very good and strong team. Finding the right balance is something we will think about even more today.”
