Lloyd Kelly
20th Dec 2025; Allianz Stadium, Turin, Italy; Serie A Enilive Football Match; Juventus versus Roma; Lloyd Kelly of FC Juventus
In the summer transfer window, Sport Witness picked up TuttoSport’s information about Sunderland interest in Lloyd Kelly. Tottenham and Liverpool are now possible suitors for him, speaking volumes for his growth at Juventus.
Not too long ago, moving to the big six would’ve seemed unimaginable for the Englishman.
He joined Juventus from Newcastle United in January 2025. He faced quite a bit of difficulty, attracting major criticism from the Italian press. Despite that, Juve signed him permanently and things have looked far better this season.
Kelly has played 30 times in all competitions. He was key under Igor Tudor and has also become a very important player for Luciano Spalletti.
This is attracting interest from Liverpool and Tottenham, after the Sunderland interest.
€50m can be enough for Spurs and Liverpool
TuttoJuve’s Mirko Di Natale reports about the situation of the 27-year-old today. The journalist, in a tweet, clarifies that even if Juve aren’t considering a sale, interest from England can change things.
Di Natale is confident about possible interest from Tottenham and Liverpool, with Chelsea also in the race. The three clubs are likely to look for a new centre-back in the summer.
To consider a possible sale, Juve would want ‘between €40m and €50m’. This would help them make a major capital gain, having paid €17.5m to sign him.
The journalist’s praise for Kelly doesn’t stop there. In another tweet, he claims that the centre-back can be called up for England’s international friendlies in March. Thomas Tuchel has kept a close eye on him and has been left impressed.
Lloyd Kelly could be an important signing
It is fair to say that Kelly has grown in stature in Italy. Apart from playing regularly, he is key to building from the back under Spalletti. The Italian’s system relies a lot on focusing on player strengths, allowing Kelly to carry the ball forward.
On top of that, the Englishman has also grown as a leader. The difficult start to life has made him better, as he fought off critics to prove them wrong.
All of this would suit Tottenham and Liverpool, with Kelly having played Champions League football this season too.
