Portsmouth faithful share same concern as on-loan Ipswich and Sunderland duo absent for game…

Loan duo Conor Chaplin and Aji Alese are noticeable absentees from the Blues match-day squad that will face Sheffield United in the Championship today

Pompey fans on social media have been reacting to the starting XI and bench named by John Mousinho for today’s game against Sheffield United at Fratton Park.

And it’s not the inclusion of Colby Bishop in the line-up - one of two changes made - after his absence against Preston North End that has fans talking.

Rather, it’s the noticeable absence of Conor Chaplin, following 11 starts in Pompey’s past 12 matches, along with that of January loan signing Aji Alese - who made his debut as an 85th-minute substitute at Deepdale - that has members of the Fratton faithful generating comments.

With the Blues already without 10 players for the visit of the Blades, they’re hoping that injury list doesn’t have two more new members ahead of three games in the space of eight days.

Here’s what fans have been saying following the publication of today’s teamsheet.

Pompey fans on starting XI & bench v Sheffield Utd

@GeorgeSlatcher: No Chaplin and no Alese … damn must mean more injuries.

@Daveyboy1995: Anybody know what is wrong with Chaplin?

@joerobbs: So we can add Chaplin and the Sunderland lad to the injury list. Injuries are unlucky, but this many we have to question what on earth they’re doing in training.

@jackcummins_9: What a shock Alese isn’t there.

@DougOliver_: Alese sent back and Chappers dropped?

@Richardsims1980: Please don’t tell me Chappers is injured.

@1999BDC: Chaplin injured?

@Mattdinio: No Chaplin, No Alese. Can we manage 1 week without an injury?

@mark_duplock: Don't say Chappers is hurt.

@kmf89mt6ht: More training ground injuries.

@BlueArmyAlex: Chaplin dropped in case he drowns in the deep end!
