Ten-men West Ham are through to the 5th Round of the FA Cup thanks to substitute Crysencio Summerville's extra time winner.
Following a dull as ditch water regulation 90 minutes, in which chances for either side were few and far between, the Dutch winger fired home the only goal of the game in the 11th minute of extra time - his sixth goal in seven appearances - to send West Ham through to the last 16.
However the Hammers were to end the game with a man down, after referee Lewis Smith opted to dismiss Summerville's fellow substitute Freddie Potts for a reasonably innocuous challenge which he was initially going to issue a yellow card for, until protests from Burton's players a inspired a change of heart.
The game afforded a first team debut for recent arrival Keiber Lamadrid and valuable first team minutes for a number of fringe players such as Ezra Mayers and Mohamadou Kante. Mneawhiel the likes of Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen and Mads Hermansen given the weekend off.
