Steven and Alex Gerrard have shared loving messages for eachother to mark Valentine's Day. The former Liverpool FC captain and his wife have four children together. They have daughters Lilly, Lexie, Lourdes and son Lio.

Today, Alex shared a picture with Gerrard to her story and captioned it: "Happy Valentine's Day Steven. Love you loads." She added a red love heart and a rose emoji. A second picture showed a glass of red wine on a table as the couple enjoyed a meal together at a restaurant yesterday evening, February 13.

An adorable photo was uploaded by Gerrard as he reciprocated the love. He posted a photo of him and Alex, with their granddaughter Lila Grey in his arms. The former Red said: "Happy Valentine's Day Alex."

The couple have been happily married since 2007 after they tied the knot in a luxurious ceremony at Cliveden House in Berkshire. Gerrard was aged 27 at the time and spoke in an interview after the wedding with OK! Magazine.

He said: "When I saw her coming down the stairs, she just looked amazing. And the girls looked really beautiful. I was dead proud of all of them." For the wedding Gerrard wore a apale grey suit while Alex wore an embellished princess style dress. The couple's daughters Lexie and Lilly Ella were bridesmaids, while best man duties went to Gerrard's former team mate Danny Murphy.

The Gerrard family has continued to grow through the years. Lilly, the eldest daughter of the couple, shared the news that she had given birth when she posted a snap of her partner, Lee Byrne, as he carried their new baby out of the hospital last year. She captioned the post: "2 becomes 3."

Gerrard has embraced his new role as grandad and regularly shares photos of himself on "grandad duty". The 45-year-old was sent a congratulations message from the Reds after Lila was born, containing a gift for the baby.

The message read: "Dear Steven and family, congratulations on the arrival of baby Lila Grey. With love and best wishes from all at Liverpool Football Club xx."

Away from his family life, Gerrard stepped aside from his duties as manager of Al-Ettifaq in January 2025. He took to Instagram to reveal he had reached a mutual agreement to part company with the Saudi Pro League club after two years.

The former midfielder's best sting as a manager came during a solid three-year run with Scottish side, Rangers, in 2018. He lifted the league title at Ibrox in 2020/21, although he left shortly after.

Speaking to TNT Sports in November 2025, Gerrard addressed a rumoured return to the club, he said: "In terms of Rangers, very close. I had some really positive and interesting talks with the owners. It felt a bit rushed to me because I had my family in Bahrain at the time.

"I had a lot to think about and a short space of time to give a decision. There was a few things that I was uncertain about. And if I'm going to take a challenge that big and that important, I've got that affection and that connection with Rangers.

"For me to take that on again, it had to be perfect and I had to be 100 per cent ready. Unfortunately I wasn't due to the timing, so I stepped aside and I wish them all the best. They're got a fantastic manager now. I'll watch as a fan from afar and I wish them all the best."
