West Ham ‘among the most interested’ in player – Club don’t consider him ‘unsellable’

West Ham United are ‘among the most interested’ in Juventus defender Federico Gatti, whose future is ‘incredibly open’.

That’s according to Calciomercato. The Italian website reports that Gatti has admirers around Europe and West Ham are one of them.

Sport Witness covered a report from Italy stating as much. That explained that West Ham had positioned themselves for the 27-year-old. It was believed that the Hammers would need a significant bid to get him in the summer transfer window.

West Ham ‘most interested’

Calciomercato now add their opinion to the mix. They report that Gatti’s future is incredibly open because of the admirers that he has.

Milan have received concrete inquiries in recent months for the defender. West Ham are among the ‘most interested clubs’ in the defender.

Juventus are open to a sale too. They don’t consider the player as ‘unsellable’. If they received a significant offer in the summer transfer window, they would sell.

Their openness to a sale, though, will depend on the defensive balance and the possible arrival of new signings.

Those new signings would have to be secured before giving the green light to his departure. But the possibility of an exit is on the table and West Ham are in the mix.

West Ham’s defensive problems

Their defence has been a problem area for some time despite efforts to improve it in the transfer window over various years.

The current options of Jean-Clair Todibo, Max Kilman, Axel Disasi, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Era Mayers are certainly not seen as long-term answers. It would not be surprising if several of those depart in the summer.

But for now, the focus will be on avoiding relegation. Given they are not safe, by any means, transfer business is presumably on the back foot.

The Hammers certainly wouldn’t be signing Gatti from Juventus if they are relegated to the Championship, that’s for sure. For now, he’s just a name to keep an eye on.
