Sometimes at Sport Witness, we really prove we know what we’re talking about. Or we prove that our hunches are usually spot on. Step forward Crystal Palace and Yan Bisseck.
Calciomercato report on the Inter Milan defender today. And Sport Witness’ guessing this week might have just been spot on.
For context, we covered a report about Bisseck earlier this week. That report, from FC Inter News, stated that there was a mysterious Premier League bidder in the running for the 25-year-old.
That explained that the unnamed Premier League club had made it clear that they’re ready to put €40m on the table for the centre-back.
Crystal Palace ‘seriously attempted’
Crystal Palace were mentioned in that, with it explained that they ‘seriously attempted’ to get him in the summer transfer window. That’s something Sport Witness covered extensively at the time.
It was almost inevitable that they’d be in the picture again, particularly with the money from Marc Guehi’s sale burning a hole in their pocket.
Well, now Calciomercato offer a fresh, and juicy slice of information. They report that Bisseck is among the players in the Inter squad with a high market value.
And, according to their information, Crystal Palace ‘promised’ in January that they would make an offer in June.
January transfer window promise
Now, here at Sport Witness we’re sure those sort of promises are made all the time. But couple that with FC Inter News’ claim from earlier this week and it certainly makes for interesting reading.
Crystal Palace’s interest in Bisseck is well established at this point. And now they have the added need of replacing Guehi following his move to Manchester City.
Whether they’d be willing to spend €40m on him, is up for debate. But they are likely to spend big in the summer for Oliver Glasner’s replacement and a new centre-back will be high on their priority list.
