Daniel Farke has praised Leeds United’s ownership for instilling stability at the club, amidst turmoil at other clubs in the relegation battle.
It’s been a chaotic week or so in the Premier League, with Leeds’ chances of retaining top flight status undoubtedly increasing after the last two games.
While we drew 2-2 with Chelsea, two managers have seen their positions terminated in the places directly below us.
Nottingham Forest confirm Vitor Pereira as Sean Dyche’s managerial replacement
Losing at Elland Road eight days ago put Sean Dyche on the brink at Nottingham Forest. Anything but a win at home to Wolves on Wednesday night would see him receive further calls for the sack at the City Ground.
35 unsuccessful shots and a 0-0 draw later, and Forest confirmed Dyche was dismissed from his role as manager.
The Tricky Trees have moved quick to find a replacement, with former Wolves boss Vitor Pereira joining on a contract until the summer of 2027.
Pereira was sacked from Wolves in November, despite a baffling contract extension at Molineux, having endured a lengthy winless start to the season.
Daniel Farke is no doubt relieved that he’s no longer facing huge scrutiny over his position at the club. Back in November, it looked inevitable that Farke would be leaving the club.
However, the 49ers stuck with the German and we’re sitting six points clear thanks to that decision. Juxtapose that with Forest. They’re scrambling for their fourth appointment of the campaign is something Farke doesn’t believe is beneficial at all.
Discussing how important stability is at the club during his pre-match press conference, Farke unsubtly noted Forest’s position.
“Really good, really trustful and honest relationship,” Farke said of his situation at Elland Road, per the YEP. “It’s important at such a passionate club that we are on the same page. When that has been he the case, this club has had its most successful times.
“Changing the manager four or times is never helpful. I don’t comment on other clubs but if you are committed then you stick together. You can’t be too addicted to results. You can hit six times the crossbar and a deflected ball goes in and you lose 0-1 but you have not done too much wrong.
“We stick together and this is the relationship that we have. But each and every club has to decide, I am just fully focused on our own business because that is enough to do.”
Leeds United harmony helping Daniel Farke keep us in the Premier League
I won’t lie, I did think that Farke was set to leave back in November. He wasn’t adapting and wasn’t getting the results we needed to stay in the league.
But, from the Man City game on, he has adapted his methods and played more to the strengths of his team, and look at us now.
It’s a testament to his and the club’s patience to see through that sticky patch. And now, we’re six clear and sitting 15th.
Contrast that with Forest, who are on their fourth manager of the season. This comes after sacking the man (Dyche) brought in specifically to keep them in this league.
That sort of harmony from top to bottom is so important for Leeds in this survival bid.
