Natalia Arroyo reveals positive conversations between the whole group about what Aston Villa need to do better and the…

Aston Villa manager, Natalia Arroyo,, gave an open and honest answer about what the reaction had been like following last Sunday's 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in the WSL.

With their only win in their last five WSL games coming against Brighton (2-1) on January 11th, it was an important moment for Arroyo and the whole group to reflect on.

“We spoke from the emotions still on Sunday, a little bit, but it was mainly on Tuesday where we said ‘ok, it is not a review and about showing clips, but what is causing us to play with less energy, with less conviction and with less clarity.

“I think that we did a good job internally of speaking to the players, and the players demanding us as staff and reuniting ourselves.

"I think the last couple of weeks have been with the standards that we do not want to work with from everybody.

"It has not been only the players' fault, and I think we were honest enough to accept that and talk about it, to go back to the same way, and this track that we lost for different reasons, we are trying to go back to that.

“It was good to start the week talking openly about what was not allowing us to perform at our best, and from there we were trying to fix some of the issues that we were having recently, defending wide channels or having more structure and distances to keep the ball and progress properly, and to create more chances as we were able to do.

“We went back to basics, that means the basics of playing, but also, why are we here? We are here because we want to win, we want to fight, and this needs to come back.

“I think it was a good training week because sometimes after a storm, literally because we have had rain for many days, today is a sunny day, and we could see a couple of rainbows, so it is just believing in that.

*“I expect at least an energetic performance, and let’s see if we can beat Tottenham.”*
