Nuno Espirito Santo sends message to West Ham fans who made the trip to Burton

Nuno Espirito Santo thanked the West Ham United fans who made the long trip up to Burton in the FA Cup on Saturday.

West Ham fans continued to protest against the club’s ownership both before and during their FA Cup victory over the Brewers.

Indeed, Nuno’s side eventually found a way past Burton on a bitterly cold day at the Pirelli Stadium.

Crysencio Summerville stepped up in extra-time to seal West Ham’s 1-0 win over Burton and book his side’s place in Monday night’s draw for the fifth round.

It was a long journey for the supporters here in east London, with many having to travel up on the train from London Euston to either Tamworth or Birmingham New Street before making a connection to Burton.

No matter the mode of transport, it’s a significant trip from the English capital, particularly to get there in time for an early kick-off.

The West Ham head coach was eager to thank fans for their support.

Nuno said (via West Ham’s official website): “Thank you to our fans who were amazing in supporting us through all the game, coming so far, and it being so cold.”

West Ham United fans will have a chance to speak to the ownership

Later this month, West Ham United supporters will be able to air their grievances about the direction in which the club is heading to vice-chair Karren Brady.

As per Henry Winter, Brady will hold a Fan Advisory Board meeting on Thursday, 26 February, 2026.

It will be fascinating to see what, if anything, comes out of that.

West Ham United fans start to believe in the team again

The protests against the ownership are not likely to stop any time soon, and that is perfectly understandable.

However, at least the team are starting to deliver on the pitch. They are not out of the woods yet by any means. A recent run of good results obviously won’t change the feeling towards the hierarchy, and nor should they.

Still, making progress on the pitch is at least a slight positive.

Indeed, fans who subscribe to TalkingPoints with Hammers News are starting to feel positive.

After a recent uplift in form, West Ham fans are starting to think the team can avoid relegation this season.

That, coupled with FA Cup progress, at least lifts the mood somewhat.
