Morgan Rogers’ value is expected to increase significantly this summer if he earns a World Cup call-up with England

Former Aston Villa chief Keith Wyness believes Morgan Rogers’ stock will skyrocket this summer, should he be selected to represent England at the World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel has some big decisions to make over the coming months as the Three Lions prepare for the tournament in North America. Plenty of Premier League players are making their pitches to be featured in the England squad and Rogers is among them.

The versatile midfielder has tallied ten goals and seven assists so far this season, as Villa push to hold their position in the Premier League table.

Rogers is under contract until 2031 but rival clubs are expected to test the waters for his signature over the summer.

Morgan Rogers value to rise with World Cup call-up

Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness has claimed there are ‘three or four’ clubs showing ‘strong interest’ in signing the Villa star. If Rogers is included in England’s World Cup squad, the former chief expects his value to rise to as much as £100 million.

“Well, if he does make the squad, which we believe he will do for the World Cup and he has a good World Cup, then he’s a £100 million player straight away,” Wyness said.

“There will be a lot of interest in Morgan Rogers. He’s got the right attitude, the skills, he’s the right age, everything works. If he has that sort of World Cup notoriety with it as well, it’s £100m all day long.”

Rogers is a key part of Unai Emery’s team and the manager has been delighted with his performances recently. Following Villa’s win over Manchester United in December, which saw Rogers orchestrate the result with a brace, Emery described him as the ‘protagonist’ of the team.

“I'm so, so happy because he's a fighter. He's a good guy, very good guy. His commitment with Aston Villa is massive, and his attitude every day is really fantastic,” the boss said.
