Liverpool’s season has been anything but straightforward. The tragic passing of Diogo Jota and the subsequent loss of form of some players has left the Reds among the Premier League’s most inconsistent. They are still in the Champions League, currently sixth in the league, and on February 14, defeated Brighton in the FA Cup fourth round, with Mohamed Salah declaring that his teammate, Dominik Szoboszlai, was one of the best players in the world.

Mo Salah Praises Liverpool Teammate
The FA Cup could present a great opportunity for Liverpool to win silverware this season. The Reds started brightly against Brighton, with Wirtz nearly opening the scoring in the first few minutes of the game.
Brighton didn’t wilt early on and looked to take the game to the home side. However, a disallowed Milos Kerkez goal was a sign of things to come. A Cody Gakpo finish was also ruled out. It was ultimately a dominating first half from the Reds, with Curtis Jones opening the scoring near half-time. A smart save from Alisson kept the score at 1-0 as the half-time whistle blew.

A big save from Alisson soon after half-time seemed to prompt the home team back to life as a smart move saw Szoboszlai slam the ball home to make it 2-0. Mo Salah was fouled in the penalty area in the 65th minute, with the Egyptian making no mistake from the spot. Substitute Rio Ngumoha had the ball in the net, but that was also ruled out for offside.
Brighton had their moments, but ultimately Arne Slot’s men were fully deserving of their 3-0 victory, as the Reds book their place in the hat for the fifth round draw.
