Toby Collyer is set to be sidelined for the next couple of weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in training, which ruled him out of Friday night's 4-0 home defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Collyer, who arrived at Hull City on loan from Manchester United in January, had only made his debut off the bench last weekend against Bristol City after suffering from a calf problem during the Christmas period.

The midfielder was in line to face the Blues on Friday before he sustained the problem in training on Wednesday, which ruled him out of the contest.

Scans have since revealed damage to his hamstring, which is set to rule him out of the next few games, handing Sergej Jakirovic another cruel injury setback in a season that has been blighted by them.

City have seven games in 21 days when they return to Championship action on Saturday against QPR at the MKM Stadium, and the absence of the United loanee will come as a disappointment, though it's hoped he could return for the final game of the month at Portsmouth.

Boss Jakirovic, meanwhile, hopes to have defender Charlie Hughes back in the squad to face Rangers, after he was left out of Friday's cup clash as a precaution.

Hughes has been playing with a groin problem in recent weeks, and it was decided he would sit out the game to allow him an extra week to rest.

Leading scorer Oli McBurnie was also a high-profile omission from Jakirovic's squad in front of the television cameras, but that was just to protect the influential forward.

McBurnie has played a lot of football through Christmas and New Year after coming back from a lengthy absence with a calf injury, and it's expected he will return to the starting line-up against Rangers.

City were also boosted by the return to fitness of Cody Drameh. The full-back replaced captain Lewie Coyle 13 minutes from time, his first appearance since late November.

Matt Crooks, Darko Gyabi, Mohamed Belloumi and Eliot Matazo all remain sidelined. It's hoped Crooks could return from his hamstring injury early next month.
