Liverpool’s Hungarian duo excel vs. Brighton – but who scored 9.1/10?

Milos Kerkez‘s stock continues to rise at Liverpool, but did he score the highest out of all the Reds’ players in the 3-0 victory over Brighton?

Arne Slot‘s side were excellent at Anfield on Saturday evening, making it into the fifth round of the FA Cup after a quality-laden display.

Here we compare our player ratings with those of the Liverpool Echo, GOAL and the TIA readers.

Kerkez (8.40) has enjoyed an increasingly impressive first season at Liverpool and he was superb against Brighton, getting the highest overall rating.

The Hungarian assisted third-place Curtis Jones (8.13) for the Reds’ opening goal, and shone in all facets of his game.

GOAL’s Mark Doyle described the assist as a “wonderful” moment from Kerkez, adding that he is “defending so much better than he was at the start of the season.”

Dominik Szoboszlai (8.23) was second in the ratings after another great performance, as he scored the best goal of the night.

Paul Gorst of the Echo hailed him as “sharp and mobile” in his preferred midfield role, while This Is Anfield‘s James Nalton pointed out that he is “in double figures for goals for the first time” at Liverpool.

Federico Chiesa (5.0) scored lowest for the Reds, failing to show Slot that he is worth persevering with beyond the summer.

What the stats say

According to FotMob, Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s best player, getting a 9.1-out-of-10 rating.

It’s hard to remember him looking better this season, which can only be a good thing.

Salah was a menace all evening, scoring and assisting, with no player having more shots (five) or most successful dribbles (3/4).

It was impossible not to ignore Szoboszlai in a statistical sense, too, with Liverpool’s No. 8 a monstrous presence.

He won both of his aerial duels and completed 98 percent of his passes – he is so far out in front in the Player of the Year race!
