Nottingham Forest have named Vitor Pereira as their new head coach, following the sacking of Sean Dyche.

A club statement said: "Nottingham Forest is delighted to confirm that Vitor Pereira has been appointed as head coach on an 18-month deal.

"He will be joined by coaching staff Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida (assistant coach), Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva (assistant coach), Bruno Filipe Araujo De Moura (head of physical performance and opposition analysis) and Pedro Simao Capela Silva Lopes (opposition analyst)."

Sources had previously told ESPN that the Portuguese was Forest's preferred candidate.

Pereira, 57, was last in the Premier League with Wolves, where he was sacked in November.

He kept his previous club in the top flight last season, and takes charge of a Forest side in 17th, just three points off the drop zone.

Pereira becomes the fourth Forest manager this season, following Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou and Dyche.
