Is Callum Wilson Good Enough For West Ham?

**Nuno opted to start Callum Wilson as a lone striker against Burton and the Englishman’s performance caused some concern.**

Callum Wilson’s playing style is something that is always consistent about him, he’s not a forward to track back, nor is he an individual to find a passing opportunity. He’s a striker who’s meant to pick up the ball and take a strike from range or someone who is in the right position and taps it in, that’s his job.

Unfortunately, against Burton, he was poor, from his runs to his finishing ability, he lacked immense quality and it doesn’t raise the question whether he is good enough.

However, what we have noticed as of late is that Callum Wilson appears to be a lot more comfortable with a front two, which is what the Hammers have begun to play as of late, with Burton and Manchester United as exceptions. With that said, understandably, I can see why certain fans might raise concern for Wilson, given that you shouldn’t have a striker that can only work in a certain tactic and when not playing it, he ultimately becomes invisible… even against a League One side, with the greatest respect to Burton.

West Ham United cannot rely on Callum Wilson when he’s inconsistent and needs too many variables to get the ball in the back of the net.

We’ve got a great finisher on our hands, but someone who looks better with a top two. If Nuno wants to get the best out of Callum Wilson, he will have to start Taty and Him along with our usual attackers, otherwise, we’ll be in for this woeful Wilson, who’s struggling immensely up top alone.

Wilson is not a player who can adapt to utilise his strengths but it is Nuno who has to adapt the team to suit him.
