Aston Villa’s new number nine looks back on a memorable moment at Villa Park

Tammy Abraham and Unai Emery expressed their thoughts on a big moment for the striker.

Aston Villa were dumped out of the **FA Cup**after a 3-1 loss against Newcastle United at Villa Park. The hosts suffered when they went down to ten men on the verge of half time, but most of the first 45 minutes belonged to the Villans, who took the lead through a close-range finish from Abraham.

The striker saw a Premier League debut goal for Villa denied through VAR in a 1-0 defeat against **Brentford**at the start of the month, so Emery was happy to see Abraham rewarded for his efforts.

“*Tammy Abraham*scored one goal two weeks ago that was taken away by VAR and today he scored.

“He worked fantastically and his adaptation is going quickly. We will need his help, his commitment and his performance. We’ll have players coming back in the next weeks and months for the two competitions we’re going to face, being excited and motivated for it.”

Abraham also took pride from his performance on Saturday. He hopes that the team can continue to build momentum as they still search for success in two competitions from now until the end of May.

“It means everything. As a striker, you always want to score goals. I got unlucky with my first game, with the goal ruled out, but I’m always delighted to score and it’s good to be back.

“Difficult result to take. I’m proud of my team, we dug deep and we gave them a tough game. They have qualities to create chances and when the first goal went in, heads go down because being a man down, it’s always difficult. But, like I said, I’m proud of the boys and we just have to keep going.”

*“We always knew it was going to be a difficult game and losing a man is always going to be difficult, but we dug deep. We just have to keep believing in ourselves – we’re still in the Europa League and we’re still in a good position in the Premier League. We have to just get together and keep going.”*
