A "very highly regarded" manager has now emerged as a leading contender to replace Oliver Glasner at Crystal Palace in the summer.
Palace still searching for Glasner replacement
Palace aren't enjoying the best of campaigns, winning just one of their last 14 matches in all competitions, which means they are currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table, eight points clear of the relegation zone.
However, replacing Glasner at the end of the season is going to be a seriously difficult task, given everything the Austrian has achieved at Selhurst Park, winning the FA Cup last season, which ensured the Eagles embarked on a maiden European campaign.
Although it is disappointing the 51-year-old is set to leave, Steve Parish & co at least have plenty of time to get the next appointment right, and they have already started identifying targets, with former England manager Gareth Southgate among the options.
However, while Southgate led the Three Lions to two finals, he hasn't managed at club level since leaving Middlesbrough in 2009, so it would perhaps be a risk to appoint the 55-year-old.
A different manager with more recent Premier League experience is also in the frame, however, with former Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank recently being named as an option, and there has now been a new update on Crystal Palace's interest.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank reacts-1
According to a report from Football Insider, Frank is now a leading contender to take over as Palace manager, with transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke adding: "Although the Tottenham move didn’t work out for him, his reputation is still pretty much intact, he’s still very highly regarded in coaching circles for the work he did at Brentford.
"That’s what helped him get the Tottenham job in the first place, and he’s not the first manager to go in there and not be able to turn things around.
"Crystal Palace are looking at Frank due to his Premier League experience, and Frank himself might feel he has got a point to prove after the disappointing spell at Tottenham.
Frank could be solid replacement for Glasner
Although the Dane being dismissed by Spurs so quickly perhaps raises some alarm bells, he did a very good job during his time with Brentford, stabilising the Bees in the Premier League after guiding them to promotion from the Championship.

Football writer Tom Burrows praised the ex-Brentford boss for the job he did at the Gtech Community Stadium, describing it as "fantastic", and he now has plenty of experience in the Premier League, having taken charge of 178 top flight games.

The Foxes have set their sights on an experienced manager.
As such, Frank could be a safe pair of hands, but after leaving Spurs in 16th place, there are question marks over whether he would be able to get Palace fighting to qualify for Europe and win major honours.
