Mikel Arteta spoke to TNT Sports after Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Wigan in the FA Cup 4th round today. Here’s what he had to say.
On the performance and the win …
“Obviously we made a lot of changes, players that needed some minutes. I think at the start they did really, really well. A lot of pace, very vertical. We had some great actions collectively and individually and the first half made a difference.”
What was most pleasing about the attack?
“Well, especially the intensity that we carried in the first few minutes. The intention that we had as a team, the connection with our players as well. They haven’t played that much together, but really, really positive.”
On Christian Norgaard’s man of the match performance …
“Very pleased and not surprised because the way he looks after himself, every teammate, and the way he handles the role is just exceptional. So I’m not surprised that he’s done what he’s done today.”
On Marli Salmon and Tommy Setford coming on …
“Very good. Those are the games as well that they can gain experience. They are with us every single day and that’s a piece of what we are achieving.”
Squad depth allow Arsenal to compete on four fronts …
“Well, that’s what we need because at the moment as well we have certain important players out as well. Make sure that they are in a good moment and ready to play every three days, and are ready to compete because that’s the level.”
On possible injuries for Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White …
“Let’s see in the next day or two the news on that.”
