Vitor Pereira sends rallying cry to Nottingham Forest fans after arriving at the City Ground

Vitor Pereira has officially checked in at the City Ground to start work at Nottingham Forest.

The former Wolves manager will take his team to Turkey this week to face Fenerbahce in his maiden game in charge of the club, with Liverpool to follow shortly after.

Sean Dyche was sacked by Evangelos Marinakis after last Wednesday’s drab 0-0 draw against Wolves at the City Ground, bringing an end to his 114-day tenure.

Senior players raised questions over Dyche’s training methods and as a result, Marinakis opted to part ways with the man who came through the Forest academy as a player.

Vitor Pereira arrives at Nottingham Forest

The Portuguese manager will meet with the players for the first time today ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game with Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Pereira has arrived at the City Ground this morning with a firm message for the Forest supporters and the players who he will take charge of this morning.

He simply said: “Time to work”, before heading off into the main building at the training ground to meet the players on day one of his time at the club.

Forest have work to do on the back of Dyche’s tenure, with the performance levels needing to increase tenfold if the Reds are to get themselves out of their current situation.

West Ham can go level on points with Forest if they beat Bournemouth before the Reds face Liverpool on Sunday and that would really set the alarm bells ringing.

Forest need Pereira to bring unity

After having two managers who seemingly want to blame everyone else except themselves, Pereira needs to calm things down and bring everyone back together.

Dyche was out of his depth to a certain degree, with the now departed boss incapable of utilising his squad to change the results in Forest’s favour.

A number of the club’s fringe players will be looking for a fresh chance under Pereira and hopefully, he can get some wins on the board to pull Forest clear of the drop zone.

It’s great that Pereira seems keen to get things moving at Forest and it will be fascinating to see how his team looks on Thursday against Fenerbahce.
