Setting the scene

Wolves come into this game looking for their first win since beginning of the month against Manchester United and looking to carry on their reputation as Giant Killers against the top 6 sides and Arsenal looking for a win to keep up the pressure on the 4th place side in the league.

First Half Action

Arsenal starts the game with intent dominating with possession with the intention of pinning Wolves back with confident passing with a high press.

The visitors Arsenal registers the first shot on target with Mkhitaryan unleashing a shot that went well over the bar after Boly gave away possession.

Wolves then start to grow into the game more often when Doherty pass to Moutinho who sent a curling effort just narrowly wide of the goal so close to an opening goal of the game.

Bennett with a long throw caused confusion in the Arsenal box with Boly flicking on to Jimenez puts his shot over the bar with another Wolves chance going begging.

With the game approaching the 21st minute mark Jota races into space and sets up Jonny who was bearing on goal cynically brought down by Monreal from 25 yards out and a free kick given to Wolves where Neves is the one lining this up and takes a shot over the wall past Leno send the home crowd into ecstasy with a sublime strike adding another one to his collection of great goals for Wolves.

Wolves double their lead in the game with Jonny does a brilliant cross to Doherty at the far post heading past Leno to make it 2-0 to leave Molineux rocking.

Into injury time of the first half Wolves grab themselves a third goal of the game when Jota capitalising on a sloppy pass from the Arsenal team drives himself into space and slots his low shot past Leno into the back of the net what a great first half performance by Wolves and this shocked a Arsenal side who started well in the game.

Second Half

The visitors Arsenal starts the game with more intent looking for Goals to get back into the game and Wolves are sitting slightly deeper and be ready to strike on a counterattack when needed.

With no breakthrough for Arsenal just before the hour mark make subsitutes looking for more of an attacking threat going forward to try and catch Wolves out.

Wolves are now starting to play a more compact in the game to stop the opponents getting in towards their goal.

The home side Wolves make substitution to freshen up their forward line to see if they can get another goal in the game.

Ten minutes before the end of the game Arsenal got the goal they wanted when Xhaka took a corner, and Sokratis rose the highest to head home a consolation goal, but this could prove to be too little to late.

Wolves 2 Arsenal 0 15th November 1969

Setting the scene

Wolves start the game with 3 key stars in the lineup with Munro, Dougan and Knowles failing fitness tests forcing manager to do a makeshift lineup and Arsenal boasting a full-strength side that had scored nine goals in their earlier two games where eight came from second half.

First Half

The opening forty-five minutes of the game were uneventful with both teams not creating much in clear cut chances described as a dull match with lack of action with Arsenal struggling to impose themselves with possession, but it could be due to the earlier rain making it hard to get their game going on the pitch although it was playable.

Half Time: Wolves 0 Arsenal 0

Second Half

The second half was much better for the home side Wolves in terms of playing they got themselves an opening goal from the restart when Lutton scored from a deflected shot from Neill wrong footed the defence which allowed him to slot past goalkeeper Bennett into the back of the net for his first goal for the club.

Soon after that goal Wolves got themselves another goal from a long throw in which Arsenal did not like the decision found Curran who went through two Arsenal defenders flicking the ball outside his right for a simple finish into the back of the net this was Currans ninth goal of the season from the leading scorer.

After all this happening Arsenal started to pressure the Wolves side with chances of their own Court having a chance at close range from about 6 yards out saved by Parkes.

Arsenal having a free kick which came to nothing, and Wolves had a chance with Curran only for an offside flag to stop a counterattack.

With the game petering out as a contest Arsenal had a late chance with a free kick by Robertson which Parkes in the Wolves goal collected easily and then the final whistle blew after that.
