Aston Villa sanctioned a winter transfer deadline day loan move to Falkirk for Ben Broggio, and he’s already relishing life in Scotland.

Broggio worked his way right through Aston Villa‘s academy ranks before turning professional with the Villans in February 2024.

The versatile attacker has always been held in high regard at Villa Park, Unai Emery handed him his senior debut in a League Cup clash with Wycombe Wanderers in September 2024.

However, the 19-year-old has been unable to collect any further first-team appearances since then, but has continued to shine in the youth ranks.

And so when this winter window’s deadline day came round, Villa chiefs decided to hand him a brilliant opportunity to go and play senior football north of the border, and that may just have been an inspired decision.

Ben Broggio has made a storming start to life at Falkirk

Having only ever made one competitive appearance in senior football, heading out on his first loan, far away from home up in Scotland no less, could’ve proven too much too soon for Broggio.

Nobody would’ve held anything against him had that been the case either, as the Scottish Premiership is a tough and physical league, and a totally different environment to anything he’ll have experienced before.

However, word doesn’t appear to have reached Broggio that this was supposed to be a big test for him, as he’s started his Falkirk stay with a bang.

Despite only averaging 61 minutes from his opening three Premiership appearances, the winger has already bagged himself two goals, one from each of his last two games.

As detailed by Sofascore, the England youth international has completed 100 per cent of his dribble attempts successfully, is registering a goal conversion rate of 50 per cent and has already made a team of the week.

He’s now already establishing a starting role in John McGlynn’s side, having started his last two league games for the Premiership’s sixth-placed side.

Therefore, Broggio looks set to play a huge part in the remainder of Falkirk’s campaign, as they look to try and qualify for European football for 2026-27.

Broggio could stake Villa first-team claim if he continues Falkirk form

Word of his early exploits in Scotland will have reached the West Midlands, and Emery must be delighted with how his young attacker has taken to life with Falkirk.

This looks set to be an uber-valuable learning experience for the teenager, who has always been tipped for future first-team stardom at Villa Park.

And, with Emery possibly looking to have a good clean out of his squad in the summer, Broggio could return to B6 with a big pre-season opportunity awaiting him.

For now though, he’ll simply be focused on continuing his rich vein of Falkirk form, and if he does, Emery may have no choice but to give him another Villa first-team shot sooner rather than later.
