Everton have required patience for many stars who have gone on to be great in the past, but it’s absolutely pivotal that David Moyes doesn’t lose hope with Tyrique George early on.

The Toffees were delighted to land the winger on loan until the end of the season, with Angus Kinnear and Co. managing to sneak a cheeky buy option into the Chelsea loanee’s deal on Merseyside.

David Moyes knew it was imperative to bring a wide forward to Hill Dickinson Stadium for the second half of the season with Jack Grealish out, and that’s what he got.

However, George made his full Everton debut against Bournemouth last time out in the Premier League, and it’s safe to say it wasn’t his best game.

As highlighted by the Sofascore graphic below, the 20-year-old’s rating of 5.6 summed up his display during the game, but early worries over whether he will be a success are confusing.

This is what Tyrique George needs to explode into form

Make no mistake about it, Everton were lucky to land George. Had Chelsea not already had multiple world-class players stockpiled in wide areas, the Englishman may have been of some use to Liam Rosenior.

Despite making just 11 appearances for the London side before joining the Toffees, George was averaging a goal or an assist every 126 minutes, which highlighted his lack of playing time.

George was averaging a 6.71 rating for Chelsea in all competitions this year

He had only played 504 minutes

The attacker made six key passes during that period, which averaged 1.1 per 90 minutes

The most consistent game time that George has perhaps had in his career, came in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League winning campaign last season.

As highlighted by his Sofascore rating of 7.08 in the competition, the forward was able to show his frightening best once he was given a string of games to impress, scoring once and providing two assists.

George is set for more game time at Hill Dickinson Stadium with Grealish out, and people mustn’t get on his back too early on, even if immediate results are needed in a push for Europe. He just needs more minutes to settle in.

Jadon Sancho said George has ‘world at his feet’

George was and still is highly rated at Chelsea, and the Blues may only sell their youth product because of the sheer amount of depth they already have.

His former Chelsea team-mate, Jadon Sancho, was particularly impressed after he made his professional debut back in 2024.

While commenting on X, Sancho said: “Tyrique [George] has the world at his feet, top guy and such a humble human being. Deserves every bit of success coming his way.”

If talents like Sancho are impressed by George’s skillset and mentality, then it will only be a matter of time before the Toffees start to see results on the pitch.
