"We are not" - Leeds United star on swapping Premier League & FA Cup hats with survival bid vow …

A Leeds United star has been asked how seriously the Whites will take the FA Cup.

Whites captain Ethan Ampadu has explained Leeds United’s Premier League and FA Cup juggling plan with a survival bid vow but silverware admission.

Ampadu coming out of it was one of them, the skipper dropping to the bench but quickly called for as a half-time substitute following United’s extremely disappointing display in a goalless first half.

Ampadu, though, quickly proved instrumental in upping United’s levels as part of a game which went all the way to penalties after a 1-1 draw before Leeds finally sealed their place in Monday night’s fifth round draw.

Whites boss Farke naturally and readily admitted at Friday’s pre-match press conference that United’s Premier League survival bid had to be the priority but with a clear message about also wanting an FA Cup run.

It’s something that skipper Ampadu desires too - the captain echoing Farke’s words with a vow that the team would not be “naive” in their Premier League survival bid but also admitting winning silverware with Leeds would be “amazing”. He also quite fancies another parade too.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Ampadu was pressed on the team’s priorities and asked how seriously they were now taking the FA Cup as a group.

“We are not naive to say that”

Ampadu reasoned: "The way we work is when it's the Premier League we focus on the Premier League and when it comes around to the FA Cup games you have sort of got to put your cup hat on.

"So for now the next couple of games is back in the Premier League and we are not naive to say that just because we have had a good spell that we are safe.

"We know there is still going to be a lot of points to get and a lot of hard work to do so we are not naïve about that but now it's Premier League time."

Asked, though, how much he would love to win a trophy with the club, Ampadu admitted: “I think it would be amazing.

"Obviously there's still such a long way to go, I don't know how many games it is and we have just got to focus on who we play next when the next round comes.

"But it would be special, you know what this club is like, it's a very special place and for me personally I would love another parade. It was fun!

"But that's still a long way away, we still know there's a lot of hard work to get to."
