For LGBTQ+ History Month we asked Stewart Selby, founder of Gay Gooners, to explain how the group was formed.
The first LGBTQ+ supporters group in the UK, Gay Gooners was founded in February 2013. It’s also the largest LGBTQ+ fans group in England, with over a thousand members in the UK and overseas.
Gay Gooners exists to provide a social group for LGBTQ+ Arsenal supporters, allies and their friends to meet up, provide a safe and welcoming space, and campaign to kick homophobia, biphobia and transphobia out of football.
