Nottingham Forest's eight-day break due to FA Cup exit hands Vitor Pereira defensive boost

Nottingham Forest will have had eight days to stew on their 0-0 draw with Wolves by the time they play Fenerbahce on Thursday night.

Forest sacked Sean Dyche after the drab performance against the basement boys, and there is now serious work to do for the Reds as they look to remain in the Premier League.

Vitor Pereira has sent the fans a message but what advice would YOU give the new Nottingham Forest boss?

Let us know in the comments below…

Senior players took offence to Dyche’s training methods and as a result, player power won the day, with Evangelos Marinakis choosing to make the decision to part company with him.

Vitor Pereira sent a message to the Forest fans after checking in as Dyche’s replacement, and the eight-day break might be just the tonic for the Reds after the Wolves draw.

FA Cup exit now looks positive as Forest could get Murillo boost

Losing to Wrexham and their Hollywood owners is far from ideal given that the Reds became the first Premier League team to lose to them since their Disney-based owners came to the club.

However, there is now a positive that can be reflected on with Forest not having a game over the weekend.

Murillo has sat out the last two games for Forest, with Leeds thrashing the Reds 3-1 at Elland Road and the drab goalless draw against Wolves also seeing him miss out.

Not playing at the weekend with the FA Cup taking centre-stage now actually looks like a positive, with the Brazilian getting extra days to recover ahead of big games against Fenerbahce and Liverpool.

Murillo has been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool this summer but it’s imperative that Vitor Pereira is able to call upon him in the final 12 games of the season.

Vitor Pereira will hope for Chris Wood return

Given the relationship between the two, it’s perhaps disappointing that Dyche was never able to call upon Wood, with his knee injury proving to be a severe one.

Wood bagged 20 goals last season and given that Forest as a collective have managed just 25 during the 2025/26 campaign, it feels as though his presence has been sorely missed.

Pereira will want as much goalscoring ammunition as possible as he bids to keep Forest in the Premier League, and it would be great to think that Wood can take part in the final months of the season.
