Everton face Manchester United next Monday when the Premier League returns to action.

Everton will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Bournemouth when they host Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium on 23 February.

The Premier League have announced that Darren England will referee the contest, with Scott Ledger and Akil Howson as his assistants.

Adam Herczeg will be the fourth official, with Paul Howard serving as VAR and Sian Massey-Ellis assisting him in the review booth.

Why David Moyes will be ripping his hair out over England appointment

Moyes will be furious as England is the man who basically started his campaign against referees and the PGMOL.

It was his decision to give a yellow card to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for taking a free-kick too quickly against Liverpool in September, that eventually led to a ban for the Blues star.

That was the moment that set the Scotsman on a warpath with the body that controls the match officials, and there have been no signs of it ending, with decision after decision going against his side and no explanation.

Moyes’ war vs referees detailed

Moyes has had plenty to complain about this season, the Dewsbury-Hall incident was just the start of things, and it has only got worse ever since he spoke out.

The most controversial was probably when the Blues were not awarded a penalty for a foul by Arsenal’s William Saliba on Thierno Barry, but Fulham were given a spot kick for the same incident just one day later.

After that incident, Moyes alluded to a big club bias, saying: “I was actually half choking last night when I saw the decision given and ours wasn’t.

“It feels as though it looks like certain clubs get the decisions and other clubs don’t, we seem to be on the latter side of that.

“I think there was one earlier in the season, I think it was Brentford and Van Dijk as well quite similar, and eventually it was given.

“We are disappointed, it wasn’t given on the day, we are looking at others that look as though they have been.

“I don’t really know, they don’t make it easy, they don’t want to have a conversation about it really, they will have, but they don’t really want to, because they probably find it very difficult to explain the decisions.”

Another was when the Blues boss was booked for celebrating a 97th-minute Beto goal that secured a draw against Brighton, when he was dancing outside of his technical area.

In the loss to the Cherries, the Toffees were done over once again, as Enas Unal went for the ball when he was offside for their second goal, and it stood, despite a blatant interference, then Jake O’Brien got sent off.

It is unlikely that the Merseysiders luck will get any better if England is in charge against the Red Devils, it would not be a surprise to see Moyes raging again after the contest.
