Roland Sallai

Galatasaray’s Roland Sallai has ended up on the radars of Liverpool, Sunderland and Brentford.
That’s what A Spor in Turkey are reporting and cover Liverpool, Sunderland and Brentford’s interest.
The right-back joined the Istanbul club from SC Freiburg in September 2024 and has been a regular for them. To put it in context, he’s played 64 matches, mainly as a right-back, at times as a left-back and also in a more attacking role.
Sallai has managed seven goals and seven assists, of which a goal and six assists are from this season. His performances caught Liverpool and Sunderland attention in the winter market.
Liverpool and Sunderland failed
Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong picking up injuries in January forced the Reds to look for options.
Sport Witness recently covered claims of the Anfield club approached Inter Milan over a move for Denzel Dumfries. A move never materialised because of Arne Slot, who wanted a player immediately. The Dutchman is currently recovering from injury.
As well as the Dutchman, Slot’s had looked at 28-year-old Hungary international Sallai. The report explains he attracted interest from the Premier League in the last window, where Liverpool and Régis Le Bris’ side in particular made ‘serious attempts’.
The Merseyside club and the Black Cats weren’t able to secure the player’s services, and there’s no mention why the Premier League duo failed.
Brentford join race for Roland Sallai
He is now attracting the Bees’ attention, and A Spor share the latest on them entering the race to sign. Keith Andrews’ side will make an offer to Galatasaray at the end of the season to try and add the Hungarian to their squad.
The report hasn’t specified the fee Brentford plan to submit or the Turkish champions’ asking price.
Galatasaray’s plan is to offload some players to improve their finances in the summer. Sallai can be a candidate for sale, and it’s unclear whether Liverpool and Sunderland will return for him.
