Newcastle United transfers: Anthony Gordon has been subject to Premier League transfer interest ahead of the summer window.
Gordon was linked with a potential move away from Newcastle United in 2024 as they scrambled to solve their PSR issues. Talks with Liverpool took place back then before the club were able to avoid PSR punishment through the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively.
The England winger has since signed a new long-term deal at St James’ Park.
Anthony Gordon achieves ‘massive goal’ at NUFC
“Since the takeover it's just been up and up. Me and the gaffer are a perfect match in terms of style of play. I love it here.
“I'm very happy here, I like living here, the team is very suited to me - and I'm here to win a trophy. The short story is we need to win a trophy.
“Winning a trophy here would be unbelievable because the fans have waited so long. To be part of that team who finally does it is a massive goal of mine.
“We [my family and I] have always felt settled because Geordies are so easy-going and so welcoming, very easy to speak to and always want the best for you. It's a very easy place to come and live, I think. I feel very connected to everyone - teammates, fans and everyone involved.”
Newcastle have since won the Carabao Cup and qualified for the Champions League for a second time in three seasons. But the £130million sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool last summer and Newcastle’s inconsistent Premier League season has raised questions about the club’s direction and progress.

Liverpool ‘frontrunners’ to sign Anthony Gordon for £95m
The Newcastle winger joined the club from Everton in 2023 for £45million and has gone on to score 32 goals in 141 appearances for the club, becoming a full England international in the process. But talk of a potential return to Merseyside for the boyhood Liverpool fan now starting to surface once again.
The report adds Manchester City and Arsenal are also interested in Gordon, but the winger would cost £95million. After agreeing a £130million Premier League record sale that saw Isak join Liverpool last summer, Newcastle would be set for another bumper payment if they were to agree to part ways with Gordon.
It would see Liverpool pay £225million to Newcastle in the space of 12 months.
According to the I, Gordon has a release clause in his Newcastle contract worth around £100million.
