Player ‘willing to force his way out’ of Newcastle – ‘Definitive yes’ to summer exit

Odysseas Vlachodimos is ‘willing to force his way out’ of Newcastle United this summer to sign permanently for Sevilla.

That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla. The Spanish website cover the goalkeeper today and Sevilla’s efforts to get him permanently.

The Greek goalkeeper joined Sevilla on loan in the summer and has proven to be a major hit. Most would argue that he’s been among their players of the season.

Sevilla want to sign him permanently, and Vlachodimos wants to make it happen as well. Sport Witness have covered that for months, with Sevilla working on it pretty much since his arrival.

Entourage go public

Last week a report covered how Vlachodimos’ circle had gone public with their worries about the matter. They were very much putting the pressure on Newcastle to accept a lower figure than they might want to.

That followed a report at the end of January that stated conversations were taking place about a permanent transfer.

Now Vamos Mi Sevilla cover the situation. The website reports that Vlachodimos is the ‘cornerstone’ upon which Sevilla want to build on next season.

The Spanish side are determined to keep him and director of football Antonio Cordón is making steady progress on it behind the scenes. According to their information, the club have already secured the goalkeeper’s ‘definitive yes.’

An agreement is now in place between both parties for a four-year deal. It would ‘compensate’ for the goalkeeper’s contract with Newcastle, which has two years left on it.

Newcastle demands are high

Vlachodimos loves life at the club and that has accelerated negotiations. He has even made it clear that he is ‘willing to force his way out’ of Newcastle this summer.

The two clubs are far apart at this moment in time, though. Sevilla are willing to offer €5m. But Newcastle paid €22m for him two summers ago and want to recoup a higher sum. Negotiations are underway between the three parties.

It does depend on Sevilla staying up, though. Relegation would completely derail any plans for the permanent signing. There’s confidence that won’t happen, though. And if it doesn’t, Vlachodimos is willing to play his part to make the transfer happen.
