All of the Premier League club’s 500 employees will face a strict return-to-the-office mandate from the start of March, as part of the new chief executive’s aim to oversee a cultural change.

Newcastle United Football Club has implemented a strict return-to-the-office (RTO) mandate for its 500 staff.
The Premier League club has already introduced the policy and it will be fully in place by the start of March, according to a report in the Times.
The mandate follows a 100-day review of the club’s operations by new chief executive David Hopkinson, who took up the role in September.
About 250 employees are allowed to work from home for up to two days a week, but Hopkinson is keen to oversee a cultural change that would be achieved by having the entire workforce on site at all times and “make staff more driven to further their careers”.
Newcastle United is the latest in a series of organisations to have reined in working at home over the past 18 months. Last July, Starbucks issued a strict four-day-a-week RTO mandate to most staff, while JPMorgan demanded all staff return to the workplace full-time from March 2025.
