Crystal Palace are said to have competition when it comes to one of their managerial targets.

Crystal Palace are reportedly set for a battle as they look to appoint Oliver Glasner’s replacement. The Eagles already know Glasner will walk away from his role at the end of the season, likely to find a big opportunity elsewhere due to his good work at Selhurst Park.

Glasner led Palace to their first-ever major trophy and their first-ever European qualification. His relationship with the club has been full of friction in recent months, particularly due to the handling of the Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta situations.

But ultimately, Glasner may well have left anyway, with his contract up and some good opportunities likely beckoning. For Palace, the search will have already begun to find a new manager, and there are some good options on the market.

One is Thomas Frank, who was sacked by Tottenham last week after a forgettable spell. But Frank did superb work at Brentford on a limited budget, and he is always going to be an attractive option for clubs like Palace.

Like Brentford, Palace often develop players and sell them on, and the Eagles need a manager who is proven to be able to handle that model and still achieve relative success.

But Palace are not the only club in that situation, and there are other clubs who may be on the market this summer. Across London, Fulham are considering their options due to Marco Silva not yet extending his contract past this summer.

The Cottagers need to sound out possible replacement in case they are plunged into a managerial search, and AFC Bournemouth are doing the same in case Andoni Iraola leaves. Iraola has been linked with a number of jobs, though reports have suggested he would prefer a move to Spain if he is going to leave the South Coast.

According to Graeme Bailey of of TeamTalk, Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham are all gearing up for a battle for Frank. Although, Palace will likely have the advantage given they are the only one of the three clubs who already know they will have a vacancy, and they are already able to speak to Frank and put together a potential deal.
