Why David Moyes must send Tyler Dibling to the Everton Under-21 side (opinion)

The Everton Under-21 side are in action on Friday night.

A Premier League 2 clash against Sunderland’s young talents awaits, and it falls three days before Everton are next in action against Manchester United on Monday night.

It has already been a week since Everton last played, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, so David Moyes must be wary about some of his players losing match sharpness, especially those he opted not to use against the Cherries such as Tyler Dibling.

Let’s hear your score predictions for Everton’s game with Manchester United!

Can the Toffees finally halt their winless run at the Hill Dickinson Stadium? 🙏

Tyler Dibling badly needs to play 90 minutes in Premier League 2 clash against Sunderland

When Everton welcome Manchester United to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday, there will have been 13 days since the Toffees were last in action.

Rustiness could therefore set in, but it possibly already has when it comes to Dibling.

Not only is the Everton No.20 enduring 13 days without a game right now like his teammates, but he was not given a single second of action against Bournemouth, nor did he come off the bench in the 2-1 win over Fulham prior to that.

It means Dibling will have gone almost a month without any football when Manchester United come to Merseyside, and it remains to be seen if Moyes even gives the 20-year-old a chance to play in that game.

Therefore, with the Everton U21 side in action on Friday, it gives the Toffees an opportunity to keep the England U21 international fresh and match fit, which is very important to do.

The longer Dibling – who Everton staff still believe in – goes without playing, not only will his confidence suffer, but it also increases the chances of a muscle injury occurring when he does take part in a Premier League game next.

David Moyes has been harsh on Tyler Dibling since publicly calling him out

Moyes recently challenged Dibling to step up during his press conference before the 2-1 win over Fulham.

The 62-year-old told the attacker: “I’d be thinking I better pull my finger out and show the manager what I was really about… He needs to find a way of becoming that player who we thought would be creating. Are you going to get us some assists, are you going to score some goals?”

Since giving Dibling this challenge, however, Moyes has failed to hand him a single second of football.

How can Tyler Dibling actually turn things around at Everton? 🤷‍♂️

It's going to need some turnaround from the youngster 😫

The youngster must therefore be wondering how he is meant to prove himself without even receiving ten minutes or so off the bench, as will the likes of Adam Aznou and Nathan Patterson presumably.
