Wilson Isidor must be considering a move to Everton as Sunderland struggles continue (opinion)

Everton enquired about Wilson Isidor in January.

The Toffees asked Sunderland about the Frenchman as The Friedkin Group considered signing a new striker for David Moyes – after he had lost his spot to Brian Brobbey under Regis Le Bris.

A winter move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium failed to materialise for Isidor – but he could be considering a move to Everton in the summer as his problems on Wearside continue.

Regis Le Bris is still overlooking Wilson Isidor after Everton interest

The man from Rennes was in the starting XI at the beginning of the season after helping Sunderland win promotion, scoring four goals in his first nine Premier League appearances.

However, the emergence of Brobbey saw Isidor drop out of the starting XI just before Christmas, and even despite the approach from Everton, Sunderland continue to treat the 25-year-old the same way.

The Sunderland No.18 has played just 31 minutes of football across the last four Premier League outings, failing to score or assist a goal in these limited opportunities.

Le Bris did give Isidor a start for the FA Cup clash at Oxford, but the Everton target lasted just 64 minutes and received a yellow card before he was hooked – again failing to score or assist against the Championship strugglers.

Wilson Isidor could have more fun at Everton

While Brobbey is doing well for Sunderland and justifying his inclusion in the starting XI, there are still question marks over Thierno Barry – along with Beto.

Barry arguably caused Everton to lose last time out in the 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth, squandering a couple of fantastic chances with the Toffees leading 1-0 before the Cherries gained confidence from the misses and fought back.

Beto is also out of the starting XI and could leave this summer, so it very much feels like there is an opening for someone else to lead the line for Everton.

Isidor – who Le Bris said feels frustrated at Sunderland – may sense he can be the man to give Moyes a focal point, so it will be interesting to see if Everton resurrect their interest when the summer transfer window opens.
