Vitor Pereira shares the number one reason he decided to accept Nottingham Forest call

Nottingham Forest are preparing for their first game under Vitor Pereira, as he took the managerial position at the City Ground.

The head coach’s first game comes against Fenerbahce in the Europa League, and he will hope to make a good impression on some pretty disgruntled supporters.

Vitor Pereira has sent the fans a message but what advice would YOU give the new Nottingham Forest boss?

Let us know in the comments below…

Sean Dyche was sacked after a 0-0 draw against Wolves last week, and the team are just three points clear of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

Ahead of a trip to his former club, Pereira has now been quizzed on why he answered Forest’s call.

Why Vitor Pereira took Nottingham Forest job

Some cynics continue to bemoan the players who have seen off three managers already this season – but Pereira has made a claim that suggests he’s having none of it.

It would appear as though Pereira is satisfied with the players he has at his disposal, and when asked what he thought of the squad, he delivered an emphatic response.

He said in his press conference: “I think we have a good squad. The squad is balanced in every position, and I am very happy with it.”

In a more direct question, Pereira was quizzed on why he actually said yes to Evangelos Marinakis when he made the call regarding the managerial position.

Again, he lauded the players, saying: “The reason why I accepted the job is that I believe in the quality of these players, the potential of this club and the ambition of the president. And I’ve said before, this is the best league in the world, in my opinion.”

Pereira saying all of the right things after taking Forest job

Pereira has replaced Dyche and given that the last two head coaches were all about the me and the I, it’s refreshing to hear one talk about the we and the us.

Dyche – along with Ian Woan and Steve Stone – should have been a match made in heaven, but in throwing players under the bus, the writing was on the wall a long time before the axe dropped.

Now, Pereira looks set to be in a position to take Forest to safety and although it won’t be easy, he seems determined to get everyone singing from the same hymn sheet.

This week feels like a big one and the hope will be that things improve quickly under the new head coach.
