“Fantastic” West Ham star reveals why he’s “frustrated” with his current role under Nuno…

West Ham’s recent upturn in form has lifted spirits at the London Stadium, with three wins and a draw in their last five Premier League outings and progression into the FA Cup fifth round.

Crysencio Summerville has led the way with his attacking exploits, and the team looks sharper overall even after Lucas Paquetá’s departure.

But not everyone is completely happy at the London Stadium – and it’s not the lack of sunshine.

Axel Disasi, the imposing Frenchman who arrived on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, has been a rock at the back. But on the latest Ironcast podcast with Carlton Cole, he admitted he’s a tad frustrated… for the most wonderfully 21st-century football reason: he’s not scoring enough goals.

“I hope to get some goals! At the moment, I’m a little frustrated because I’m doing a lot of blocking during set pieces,” he laughed. “But I need to get some goals myself!”

Even so, Disasi isn’t sulking in a corner – he’s happy to be at West Ham and appreciates the faith shown by Nuno Espírito Santo.

“Honestly, I’m calm and happy to be here. I had a great discussion with the coach before the game [his debut at Burnley]. He asked me how I felt, and I told him I felt good both mentally and physically. He put me straight into the lineup.”

Praised as “fantastic” by Gary Lineker, the big defender has quickly won over fans. He’s showing the kind of grit, organisation, and physicality West Ham have been craving – and while he may be dreaming of goals of his own, the Hammers are just glad he’s in their side.

If he keeps up performances like this, don’t be surprised if fans start chanting for him to stay permanently. Goals or not, he’s already made his mark.
